Someone has to go first...

Hello and welcome to the Oceans IQ blog!

OceansIQ is dedicated to conducting great science and bringing it to YOU, the  people, as it happens. As we research our way through the blue yonder, we will use this blog alongside our main website to update you on our latest projects, bring you information on the current marine issues and tell you about new and exciting resources to enhance your own OceansIQ.

Our research covers a huge range of marine topics such as:

  • Shark and ray physiology, ecology and behaviour (in other words...how do sharks and rays bodies work, where are they, where do they go and what do they do while they are there)
  • Marine venom mechanisms and ecology (in other words - how do the stinging animals do that and for goodness sakes why?!)
  • Marine resource management (in other words - are we going to leave any fish in the sea, and how on earth do we do that?!)
With a team that includes broadcast documentary producers, an emmy-award winning cameraman and scientists that have a great passion for sharing their nerdy marine passion, OceansIQ will be bringing you up-to-the-minute science information in ways you love and will want to share.

But we don't want you to just try and keep up with us. OceansIQ has a great video encyclopedia that you can browse through to discover more on a particular topic. Right now the focus is on coral reefs (hey, the Great Barrier Reef is our backyard) but we will add to it over time. This great resource is completely free, and we encourage you to share it with others.

So that's it - the first blog post out of the way. Stay tuned to OceansIQ - if you've made it this far, I think you're going to like what we do!
