Oceans IQ were very pleased to present a talk about sevengill shark research in False Bay. OIQ affiliate Alison Kock from Shark Spotters and I chatted with with local divers and marine enthusiasts who gave some valuable insight into their local area and the sevengill sharks (which they call 'cow sharks') in their backyard. We really enjoyed the participation of the audience and the night was a great success.
We also launched the Spot the Sevengill Facebook site, where divers can help contribute to the research in South Africa by sending in pictures of Sevengills they dive with – click here to visit the page. Thank you to all who participated on the night and WELCOME to the new batch of people following the OIQ site. I hope through our site we can provide some great educational tools you can use and distribute in the future.

To watch the Sevengill project in South Africa progress, keep visiting OceansIQ.com and 'Like' OceansIQ and Spot the Sevengill Shark on Facebook. I look forward to
presenting results in another talk when I return to South Africa next.
In other news we have retrieved
some of our acoustic receivers to see what our tagged sevengill sharks are
doing in False Bay. Keep an eye out on the project update for results…

This week the weather has blown
up preventing field work, but the weather is looking better next week, we are
hoping to tag another 11 sevengill sharks with acoustic tags.
Oh! And a quick update on Spot
the Sevengill shark South Africa – 119 people have already checked us out in 2
days!
Cheers
Adam
